6: FUNNY STUFF GROWING UP #1

There's a word called 'Soccer'?
"In the 80's, I saw a portion of a television ad, about a show called 'The Supermen of Soccer' — that was going to be aired on the local TV channel - Doordarshan. I immediately got super-excited about it thinking it was about Superman. I had only seen Superman in comic books at the time. So, I frantically searched for its listing in the papers for several days, found that it was slotted for a Sunday, and finally sat down to watch it. Imagine my dismay when I saw players running around on a football field instead. This was my first introduction to the word 'Soccer'. I was about 8 or 9, and had never heard of the word before, even though I played FOOTBALL ALL the time."
